The “Peak of the Parkway,” the Pisgah Inn is the ultimate Blue Ridge destination. It was voted the No. 1 National Park Lodge by USA Today readers in 2015 for it’s 50 mile views at 5,000 feet and excellent food.
Situated at the base of Mt. Pisgah with views that stretch forever, the Pisgah Inn offers a natural, quiet destination for parkway travelers to rest and refresh. Don’t be deceived by the Inn’s isolation and distance from town — popular travel times, such as the fall color season, are booked a year in advance.
You can expect almost everything you’d find at a modern hotel. Except air conditioning – the natural breezes provide a comfortable atmosphere while you enjoy the stunning vistas from your porch. Except a pool. You have access to Mt. Pisgah across the street and the 500,000 acres of Pisgah National Forest.
Before European settlers entered this region, the mountains and valleys were the domain of the Cherokees, who called Mt. Pisgah “Elseetoss” and the Pisgah Ridge “Warwasseta.”
The original rustic lodge was built in 1918 and dismantled in 1990. The current lodge was built in 1964.
As the folks at the Pisgah Inn like to say, “Come for the views, stay for the food.”
