The latest gem in the emerging Railroad District, Magpie Meat & Three is a breath of fresh air, serving classic Southern favorites (meat and three sides). Expect family style tables and generous servings of vegetables, meats and cheeses from local farmers, breads from local bakers and favorites from craft brewers in a brightly refreshed industrial space.
Because the menu is seasonal and locally sourced, it always changes. But usual fare includes Smoked Trout Dip, Pulled Pork Sandwiches on Friday and Saturdays only, Smoked Sausage and Fried Catfish. Desserts include Buttermilk Pie and seasonal cobblers.
The location is a bit obscure (now) and street parking is in short supply, but you can boast that you discovered this great restaurant in an up-and-coming arts district.
