  • The first clue you’re about to stumble on this cool roadside discovery is the road sign warning “Area congested on Saturdays.”

The John O. Dobson family converted the historic (1922) general store into a pottery gallery and studio in 1988, and 30 years later showcase one of the largest selections of Western North Carolina mountain-made pottery from more than 25 potters. Check out the working studio located next door with kilns in the rear year.

Beautiful, functional and whisical pottery for your home and yard. Specialty cookers — an apple baker, bacon cooker and brie baker — come with recipes. Be sure to wander outside to the “tired and flawed” wall next to Dunn’s Creek for a discounted treasure.
